our "museum" philosophy

Children’s museums encourage play-based learning through interactive exhibits that inspire creativity and discovery. The Garden Museum follows this model, drawing inspiration from Reggio Emilia, Montessori, Waldorf, and forest-school philosophies to create and foster

+child-led, hands-on experiential learning through nature exploration, play, art, and movement

+emphasis on the natural world: placing value in nature-based materials and activities, outdoor environments for exploration

+multi-sensory and play-based learning

+a focus on creativity and open-ended materials: with an emphasis on imaginative play, artistic expression, and using open-ended materials for exploration and discovery.

+a respect for the child as an active learner: each of these educational philosophies recognize children as competent, capable individuals who construct their own understanding of the world. Teachers (and caregivers!)  act as guides rather than directors.

Just like in a physical children’s museum setting, caregivers are encouraged to actively participate—strengthening bonds, guiding exploration, and experiencing the wonder of learning alongside their children.
